MY PRACTICE
I practice acupuncture and herbal medicine either separately or together.
My style of acupuncture is mostly Japanese which uses very fine needles inserted with a tube. I can combine this with Chinese style needling which is deeper and, if treating a muscle problem, I use intramuscular, trigger point dry needling technique.
However, treatments are always individualized, taking into account the sensitivity of the patient. For children and babies I use gentle laser or blunt non-insertive shonishen needles that were developed in Japan to treat children and either can be used for adults that are very sensitive or phobic of regular needles.
Herbal medicines in Traditional Chinese medicine are synergistic blends of herbs that have been used safely in China for hundreds of years. The formulas can be adapted as needed for individual patients. Herbal preparations consist of pills, capsules, tinctures or powders and all come from companies that have good manufacturing practices (GMP certified in Canada) where the herbs are properly identified, tested for heavy metals, pesticides etc and scientifically processed to preserve active ingredients.

For Uvic students: UVSS basic plan covers $30 a session up to $200 a year for the basic plan OR 80% of each session up to $300 a year for the enhanced plan
